Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. Users under 18 should use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

• You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity under your account.
• Keep your credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at hello@carnaticcompass.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You may not share, sell, or transfer your account.

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable law or third-party right.
• Attempt to access another user's account or any data you are not authorized to view.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
• Upload or transmit malware, harmful code, or unlawful content.
• Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others.
• Use automated means to overload or disrupt the Service.

Pedagogical material on the Service draws from the Carnatic music tradition, including teachings, ragas, talas, compositions, and references to historical maestros. We aim for accuracy and reverence. Where traditional works are referenced, attribution is given to the best of our knowledge. If you believe any attribution, transliteration, or interpretation is incorrect, please contact us — corrections from the community are welcome.

The Service, including its software, design, original written content, recorded samples, and brand assets (logo, name, color system), is owned by Carnatic Compass or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without our prior written permission.

You retain ownership of notes, prompts, and other content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, and display it solely as needed to operate the Service for you. You are responsible for the legality of content you submit.

The AI Assistant generates responses using third-party language models. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date and should not be treated as definitive musical, medical, legal, or financial advice. Verify important information independently. Do not submit confidential personal data to the Assistant.

Some features are free. Where paid plans exist, prices, billing cycles, and refund eligibility are presented at the point of purchase and incorporated into these Terms by reference. You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise required by law.

Practice mindfully. Wind instruments and prolonged vocal practice can cause strain or injury if pushed too far. Take breaks, stay hydrated, and consult a qualified teacher or medical professional if you experience discomfort. The Service is an educational aid, not a substitute for in-person guidance from a guru.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and use information.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to other users, the Service, or us. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL CARNATIC COMPASS, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, by email or in-product notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Carnatic Compass operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will first be addressed in good faith via direct communication; failing resolution, the courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where local consumer protection law provides otherwise.
